Introduction:
Personal growth is one of those things we all aspire to, but let’s be real—when you’re a middle-aged working woman raising kids, it feels like personal growth peaked when you finally figured out how to pack lunches and find the lost TV remote in under 10 minutes. Growth? We’re just hoping to get through the day without discovering that someone shoved a Lego in the toaster or forgot to tell you about a science project due tomorrow.
But here’s the thing about personal growth: it doesn’t have to be this massive, “I’ve reinvented myself” kind of moment. It’s more like learning to dodge the curveballs life keeps hurling at you—except the curveballs are sporting carpool schedules, work deadlines, and a surprise school cake stall sale that, for some reason, requires gluten-free, nut-free, sugar-free brownies. (That’s not a brownie, by the way. It’s a vegetable in disguise.)
Personal growth, at this stage, is about giving yourself permission to evolve—sometimes slowly, like how you’ve grown into the person who no longer yells when someone spills milk. You just stare at it now, with that calm, "I’ve-seen-it-all" face.
It’s about carving out five minutes for yourself in the middle of chaos. You know, those moments when you lock yourself in the bathroom with a piece of chocolate, telling the kids you need “privacy.” Growth is realizing that it’s okay to be human—to mess up, to laugh at yourself, and to recognize that even though your life feels like a sitcom half the time, you’re doing amazing. Don’t worry about others. If they need to negatively pass judgement or comment they simple aren’t your tribe. Took me a decade to understand that in completeness. Don’t get me wrong I was hard at times to love but those that matter stick it out. And I will be forever grateful for them. Forever.
So, keep growing, even if it’s in baby steps. Embrace the chaos, pat yourself on the back, and remember—you’re F$&@ing amazing.
